One of the greatest things that has moved the heart of Jesus was witnessing great crowds. The word says that Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw the multitudes. (Matt 9:36) In fact, Jesus’ ministry was multi-focused. He raised up quality disciples at the same time reached out to huge crowds of people. I believe that should be the way our ministries and churches function today as well.
One of my greatest desires have been to see people turn to Jesus in great numbers. And nothing short of a revival or a revivalist can ever pull genuine people in great numbers into the kingdom of God. On the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the 120 waiting disciples of Jesus Christ, Peter and the 11 Apostles stood up and preached the word and “they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:41)
The same has happened over the centuries wherever revival was experienced. The wales revival under the leadership of Evans Roberts collected a harvest of 1,00,000 souls in a period of 6 months. Over 52 million salvations have been recorded and added to the Church through the ministry of Reinhard Bonnke in the last decade alone. The country of South Korea had 2.2% of Christians in the year 1945 and in the year 2003 it was recorded as 49%. All of these are as a result of few people who expected nothing less than revival from God.
The population of India is 1,155,347,700 in the year 2009 according to World Bank. How can we ever reach them for Jesus with any program, tool or technique less than a massive revival sweeping across the length and breadth of our nation. The greatest sign of a revival is people repenting of their sins and souls being added into the church through baptism in massive numbers. And a church that don’t get easily satisfied with anything less than a revival will surely experience revival.
It has been my heart to see the entire nation of India at the feet of Jesus! And that’s why I am running and aiming for revival. As a church goer, gospel preacher, worship leader or an ordinary usher in the house of God, will you take it upon yourself to enjoy no rest till you see the revival fires burn across our country? If you will, then you will be part of the revival when it strikes. Even if you don’t the revival will come in its God appointed time, but you would be left out of it!
May i urge you to pursue God for revival? For a revival that starts with you? Will you seek God for a revival that starts in your family/church/college/town/city? One thing my mentor often keeps telling is that once the revival starts in a person it is only a matter of time before it spreads to other people and places as well.
Let’s prayerfully wait on God for a revival in our land. Feel free to leave your comments below. Click here to read other posts in the Revival Zone.
Simple, yet very powerful and profound word, with a heart cry of the heart of God to see people to come to His kingdom. Very Blessed.
God Bless you for reminding the readers to pursue God for what is in His heart – people that needs to be brought in to the fold. Believing for revival in India and may God prepare you and protect the work among the revivalists for India.
There is a great anticipation of an awakening coming among the body of Christ all over.
That is true Juliet, There is in fact a lot of prayer movements and gatherings happening all over the country, expecting a revival from God for the nation, Can’t wait to witness it, Thanks for responding!
Hi Pr. Priji, i am really blessed to read the thought and vision that God has put on your heart, with you in prayer. Its time for India to know who died for their sins. I strongly believe that its time for the body of the Christ and individual believers to come out of our lukewarm situation and be on the revival side.
True that Captain Benny! Let’s pray and work towards the same!
