Sometime ago I was talking with a very influential person here in Bangalore, something that he shared with me made great sense to me and remained in my memory since then. This is what he said, “I have known many people, especially youngsters who love Jesus! Most of them consider Jesus as their close friend and mate. However what people often miss recognizing is the Saviour aspect of Jesus Christ. Because when I say, Jesus is my Saviour, I mean to say that I am a sinner sunk deep in sin and now I need a Saviour”
Purpose of the Cross:
However trouble is that some people stop right there after accepting Jesus into their lives! Let me start off with telling you the reason why Jesus Christ, who was God, and created time and created everything that we see around; came to this earth as an ordinary human being. He came to remove humanity out of the clutches of sin, not just to wipe his slate clean! Jews obeyed the Torah and sacrificed an animal to get their sins forgiven and get them rescued from the punishment of sin! Sometimes we think, Jesus’ death also meant the same thing. That he took the punishment for our sin and they that believe in his name will find forgiveness of sins. Well that’s true, but not the complete truth. There is a great difference between the animal sacrifice and Lord’s sacrifice. It is that Jesus rose again from the dead! Signifying that, the story does not end just with our sins being forgiven. We need to move on to the place where we are completely free from the bondage of sin. Anybody, who accepts the forgiveness of sins, but not the freedom from sinning nullifies the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Good News:
If the initial part of the good news is good enough, how much more better will be the complete good news! Please understand that the good news just does not end with the fact that Jesus rose again. It goes on to the fact that he sent the earlier promised Holy Spirit to the earth after he ascended to heaven. If it was not for the infilling presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, all our efforts and methods to try to follow Jesus would have been like the attempt of the cowardly disciples trying to follow Jesus before they were empowered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power! Today many of us seek for an experience not for the power that the He carries and gives! Apostle Paul said “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:11 ESV)
Possible It is!!
So is it possible for us to live in the light and knowledge of the complete gospel? Of course, yes! Apostle Peter said “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3) It sounds like my father telling me, I have given all the resources required to study! Not it is upto you to make good use of the those resources and STUDY! That’s exactly what God is telling us! All that pertains with living life in abundance and in complete godliness, all that is required for you to live this life the way he wants you to, he has already given us! Now it is upto us to make good use of the the good news and put in to some good practice! That is the full Gospel!
Dear friend, May I ask you if you are a complete stranger to these heavenly principles? Do you have Jesus in your life? Do you live for Him and in Him? That is the primary reason you were created for! My prayer is that you will live your life to the fullest!
