Isaiah 42:5-9 MSG

“GOD’s Message, the God who created the cosmos, stretched out the skies, laid out the earth and all that grows from it, Who breathes life into earth’s people, makes them alive with his own life: “I am GOD. I have called you to live right and well. I have taken responsibility for you, kept you safe. I have set you among my people to bind them to me, and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations, To make a start at bringing people into the open, into light: opening blind eyes, releasing prisoners from dungeons, emptying the dark prisons. I am GOD. That’s my name. I don’t franchise my glory, don’t endorse the no-god idols. Take note: The earlier predictions of judgment have been fulfilled. I’m announcing the new salvation work. Before it bursts on the scene, I’m telling you all about it.””

In this podcast Pastor Rashmi shares an incident from couple of years back when Zahal (her daughter) was playing the role of mother Teresa for an event in her play school.

For this event, the parents were required to get the costume ready for their child. Pastor Rashmi spent a whole day trying to design and stitch a costume. What should have been a simple task, turned into a tedious one and she found herself furiously stitching away at 2:30 am, trying to get the costume to perfection.

At that point, God spoke to her asking why she was doing this. She replied that it was because she wants her child to look good.

As she said that, she realized that she was putting in so much effort into this because Zahal’s costume would be a reflection of who her parents were. It was important that Zahal looked good because her image was based on who her parents were.

Most of us as parents push our children to do well because who they are is a reflection of who their parents are. If an earthly parent has so much pressure and expectation from their child, how much more would our Heavenly Father expect from us because we are His children, made in His image.

Whatever we do reflects who our Father and our God is. We are faced with many choices in our daily lives, and it is fair to say that God has expectations from us in the choices we make.

Never forget who you belong to, who your Father is and what He expects from you. Make the right choices today, in small and big things, and do it with joy.
