Nehemiah 8:10 NLT
And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!”
In today’s scripture portion from Nehemiah 8:10, you would see Nehemiah encouraging people to be happy because the people were weeping and wailing because of their rebellion and sin against God.
When God extends His mercy & grace towards you, you cannot continue to live in sadness and sorrow all your life.
Today you have no reasons to be sorrowful for what you had done because every one of your sins has been carried by Jesus upon the cross. You can take lessons and learn principles from your last failures and apply them for the next time if you are faced with the same circumstances and yet it should not lead you into a consistent lifestyle of self pity.
Nehemiah is encouraging people which you find in the old testament where sins were just covered, but now after the death of Jesus, our sins or not just covered but also cleansed and our lives have been regenerated when we trust and believe in Him, how much more do we have a reason to celebrate today in the midst of our failures and sorrows.
And it’s necessary that your times of celebration should include listening and receiving the voice of God because the bible says man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. And when you receive the word, you will overflow and you’d be able to help others.
This month is going to be sacred for you before the Lord. Don’t be dejected or be sad, because the joy of the Lord is your strength. If you believe this word, then this month will be a month of breakthrough for you.
Walk in the joy of the Lord.
