Remain a Slave

Dec 21, 2018 | Worship

Acts 16:16
One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future. She earned a lot of money for her masters by telling fortunes.

This is a story of a little girl that is mentioned in Acts 16:16. This girl had an extraordinary ability. She could predict what will happen, and she could tell people’s fortunes. Because she had this extraordinary ability, she made a lot of money. Everything that she did, it brought wealth. When Apostle Paul came, this girl used to point out to him, and every day she would tell people to speak Paul if they wanted how to  find salvation, and he will teach them the way of life.

Everything that she did or said was in fact right. The apostle had gone there to preach the word of God and teach about salvation.

Just because everything is going right in our lives, we think that we are perfect. That itself is a place where we have failed.

All the money this little girl made was through a wrong spirit that had descended upon her. All the money that she was making was not going into her pocket. She was a slave girl. It was going into her masters’ pocket. Somebody else was getting wealthy and rich because of her.

Everything is temporary whatever you do not invest into heaven. The only thing that will be by your side is whatever you invest into heaven.

Whenever your drive is to earn money for yourself, the spirit that is captivating, empowering and enabling you to do that may also not necessarily be from God, and yet, when we say Lord, ‘I want to build Your kingdom’, and when that becomes the goal of your life, the spirit that is enabling your ministry, your work and your creativity will be the Spirit of God.

Jesus said you cannot serve both God and mammon (spirit). The greed for money is also a spirit, and when that spirit is what you are functioning under, then you will never be satisfied, no matter how much money you earn and it will never even be truly yours. You will continue to be slave to the enemy, and the enemy will make you think like you are earning money but actually you are not earning anything for yourselves. You are just going to lose everything that you are trying to get for yourself.

Realign your priorities, comeback to the Lord and pray “Lord everything that I am and everything that I have, I don’t want to earn a single rupee more if it is not for the glory of Your name. I don’t want to do one more thing if my heart’s desire or if my motivation is to not to lift You up. I want to just be rooted and firmly placed in the palm of Your hands.”

Make that prayer out loud and let the Lord realign your heart before you proceed with your day, before you go back to work, before you go back into ministry, let the Spirit of the Lord truly enable you to do what you are doing.
