Habakkuk 3:17-19 NLT
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.
We often think God from an experiential term. We expect God to work in the present based on our past and because our expectations are limited, our faith often seems to be limited.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 talks about everything that is going berserk, and the prophet is declaring some painful prophecies that he has received but he says inspite of all he is going through, it will not change his faith and his response will continue to be one of celebration and rejoicing.
The prophet is not rejoicing in his blessing but in the God of his salvation.
In these kind of situations in your life, if you continue to rejoice in the Lord, instead of experiencing pain, you’d experience God’s strength and He would make you as surefooted as a deer.
The word surefooted means – to become confident and competent.
If you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and not on your blessing or ministry or finances or the lack of it, and continue to rejoice, you experience confidence, a strength and a competence that cannot be beaten.
God is going to elevate, increase and promote you to a level that no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has known.
