Series: Paul’s Passion for Evangelism
Paul tells Timothy to be prepared at all times.
Many a time we are not prepared to minister to people around us. We are caught off guard and ill-quipped to share Jesus. We are prepared only when we are going out from the church in an organized evangelistic approach.
It’s good to be planned but let’s try to make it a lifestyle and keep our hearts prepared always. Paul tells Timothy to look at himself as someone who is called to do this whether it’s favorable or not, whether there is an invitation to preach or not.
To prepare yourself:
Get acquainted with the Gospel. What is your story, your testimony? Write it down and use your story to communicate the gospel in your own language. It should be based on the scripture but you can communicate and contextualize it in your own words.
Talk to someone in your church. Tell them you want to learn how to share the gospel and ask them to pretend to be a harsh stranger. This will give you a glimpse on what to expect and how to respond.
Read books, blogs or listen to podcasts. We live in a world where many things are freely and easily available. Make use of them.
Equip yourself with answers that address questions and concerns raised by atheists or people from different religions.
Set aside some timetoday to equip yourself to preach the word of God.
Be prepared in every season so when God opens a door, you can jump in and grab the opportunity to share.
Sharing the gospel is a commandment from God. It is not exclusively for pastors, it is for everybody who believes in Jesus.
May God give you the grace and strength to do what pleases Him.
