Chains of Wickedness
Isaiah 58:6 HCSB
“Isn’t the fast I choose: To break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke?”
We are supposed to be image bearers of God on this earth, but that was lost in the Garden of Eden, and that is the image and likeness that Jesus restored and made available for us when He died on the Cross. This has to be the purpose of our praying, seeking God, and fasting to make sure that everything that does not look or feel like Jesus in us is being destroyed.
The purpose of our fast and prayer is supposed to be to break the bondages in our lives, break the chains of wickedness, to break the yoke (the yoke that we put on ourselves, the yoke that others put on us, and the yoke that we put on others). Every kind of yoke needs to be broken especially when we are in a season of fasting and prayer.
So often we ignore the fact that our spiritual man needs change and we are so “us” centric in this world.
When God called us to live on this earth, His ultimate purpose was to make us like Jesus. If we have all the blessings, riches and goodness of this earth but we do not look like Jesus, then our prayers are going waste. Our blessings are supposed to run after us, and we are not supposed to go after our blessings, but there is something that we are supposed to run after and that is Jesus.
Let us ask God that every yoke, bondage and chains of wickedness that is upon our lives be broken as we pray and also the people around us to experience the freedom of God.
When we are willing to endeavour our battles in prayer, we would be able to overcome the temptations that we are faced with. Every single one of our temptations will be taken care of, as we wait on the Lord and let Him break those bondages in our lives.
Let us fashion our prayers in such a way that we are running after the image and the likeness of Jesus.
Prayer:
Father, I just pray and I bless my dear friend wherever he or she is listening from. Let the prayers that we pray in this season be transformed. Let the prayers we pray have the power to break every yoke, have the power to disconnect us from every bondage and chains of wickedness today so that we can look more and more like you, we can be transformed into the fullness of what you have created us to be. We pray and we bless your children, in Jesus might name.
