Job 31:4 ESV
Does not he see my ways and number all my steps?
Let us fix our eyes on God, our mind on the mind of God and our heart on the heart of God.
The more we focus on ourselves and do what we want to do and wanting to fulfill our desires, the more we are susceptible to going wrong.
Job was a very wealthy rich man, but one day he lost everything, he had an amazing family, but one day they all died at one stroke, he had a wonderful wife, who then turned against him, he had great health which was now rotting away. Then there’s Job, trying to figure out what went wrong or what was his mistake. He now is explaining his life to his friends who are criticizing him and looking down on him and saying that it is because of Job’s unrighteousness and sins that all this is happening to him. But the best thing Job could have done is ask, what is it that God is looking at instead of looking at what wrong he had done.
Job is inspecting himself, and it is going on for days through the whole book of Job where he is defending himself.
Job 31:4 – Does not He see my ways and number all my steps.
Job’s confession about God’s understanding of himself is the above scripture. Job is confident that God’s eyes are always on him. This is what he understands even when his friends or wife criticize him for the things that has happened in his life.
That is probably the key to why Job could live such a blameless life. God himself testified that Job was a blameless and righteous man and that there is nobody like him.
Is it possible that we create a God consciousness in us that He is watching all our ways and numbering our steps, in our conversations, relationships etc.
Let’s be mindful and remind ourselves that God is watching over us always.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
