Rejoice Over Her
Revelation 18:20 KJV
“Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.”
God never asks us to rejoice over anyone who is been punished or thrown into hell permanently, but here, God is encouraging us to rejoice over the vengeance that He is realising on our behalf.
However, this vengeance is not specifically against unbelievers. Because if we compare Babylon with the church, it is not the world or unbelievers but it is actually a fake church, a church that pretends to be like the church where it is exalted itself above the purposes of God.
God is upset with the way that Babylon has hurt Jerusalem (which refers to the church) by compromising other things for immediate benefit. But God is not coming for the “Babylon” but for “Jerusalem” the pure church.
It is a fact that its not the fundamental anti-christian groups that is hurting the church today as much as the leaders and ministers in the church who don’t have a true revelation and relationship with God.
But God says that He is going to avenge us from these kind of churches!
In these last days, the judgement will first begin with the house of God. So when God judges these kind of people don’t be sad but rejoice, because when God judges He sees if they will repent and turn back to God.
And this is the reason for us to celebrate and worship God because that is how we as a church will be purified and set apart.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
