A Pleasant Year
Job 36:11 NLT
If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant.
When God gives us an instruction it is not to limit us but to free us.
When a parent asks their children not to have chocolate or watch TV, children tend to think their parents don’t like them, but it is for the benefit of the children the parents put these restrictions. These restrictions help them prosper, remain healthy and grow in life.
When a child is denied something, the child feels like the parent is an enemy. We as children of God feel the same way. When we hear commandments/scriptures that give detailed instructions of what God wants us to do and how he wants us to live and what he wants us to give up.
God expects us to give up everything in order to be able to walk with Him and enjoy Him.
We feel God treating us like his enemy, but it’s in eternity we will know how these things we clinged onto were harmful for us.
Initial condition mentioned in Job 36:11 is to listen and obey God. The latter part says you’ll be blessed and in prosperity for your whole life.
Prosperity is so much more than vehicles, money, cheques. Prosperity is abundant life, it is enjoying every day of your life having no need.
God wants to prosper each and everyone of us. The reason we are limited and not able to enjoy and occupy the portion God has for us is our lack of obedience, clinging onto things that are harmful for us.
The verse continues to say, “All their years will be pleasant.”
Though you would’ve had a prophetic word for the year, still, not just 2020 but all your years will be pleasant if you are willing to let go and receive the voice of God in your life as much as it may look like it is restricting you which is for your benefit, blessing and freedom!
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
