Series: Zacchaeus’s Encounter
God is leading us into a deep pursuit of Him; that is true worship. Pursuit of God is not just about getting a blessing or a breakthrough, but real worship
The verse talks about Zacchaeus.
This was not an ordinary person that we’re talking about; he was not a person who was hungry or in need of a healing, nor someone who would have died if Jesus didn’t touch him; this guy was wealthy!
He was not just a tax collector but was the chief tax collector; which means he was definitely more wealthier than all other people It’s amazing to see that Jesus had rich followers also in His day.
Just because we’re rich or our needs are taken care of, doesn’t mean we don’t need Jesus. We think that Jesus is for the sick, needy, hungry, or those who really need hope in life, but that’s not true.
Technically speaking, in the world’s standards, Zacchaeus was set; there was nothing that he lacked or needed from Jesus. Yet he chose to follow God; he chose to go after Jesus.
So many times, it’s not just our brokenness that take us away from God, but our strengths, provisions and blessings; things that God gives us to help us and take care of us that take us away from God.
It is mostly when we’re hurt and down that we go to church more and attend all the prayer services. The amount of worship in our low days are generally high. But what happens when God decides to bless us? We get lazy, all of a sudden we get different priorities, we get credit card bills, etc.
“Routine life has the capacity to chip away your soul on a regular basis. If your soul is not growing, it’s definitely being made thinner and weaker, day after day” So, live in pursuit of Jesus inspite of the riches or wealth or education or provisions or blessings. Nothing matters at the end of the day, if we don’t have Jesus.
