We often tend to ignore the warnings in the old testament because we believe that those warnings were exclusively meant for Israelites that were in disobedience against God. In doing so we ignore the deep inspirational things that God has taught them through their process of disobedience.

Today we are going to study from one such scripture from the old testament.

In Jeremiah 6:13, God is speaking about the nation of Judah through Prophet Jeremiah that everybody’s life is ruled by greed.

Greed is very relative. But how does God defines greed?

Greed is your constant lust and desire for things that you don’t have and that desire never satisfies.

God does wants you to have in abundance, but when you are constantly driven by your lust for materialism and for things that will perish after your time here on earth, then you are rued by greed.

The ordinance that God gave the Israelites was that God will be their possession, but now here they are not satisfied with God and they want everything that the other tribes have. But God still is trying to discipline them.

The Bible says everybody will fall prey for this.

Today, will you just brush this warning off thinking its someones else’ problem or will you inspect your heart and find things in your heart which are not necessarily required?

I would encourage you if you have even a smallest sort of greed in your heart, bring it to the feet of Jesus. God doesn’t want you to continue one more day without dealing with this problem of greed.

We are supposed to be rued by the Holy Spirit, and we are supposed to have power and self control, but if greed and lust has control over us, then we cannot overcome and we will remain in bondage.

So today, before you start your day, bring everything to the altar and lay it down at the feet of Jesus and pray that you will be led by love, self discipline and by the power of the Holy Spirit because the Bible says, they that are led by the Holy Spirit are the sons of God!
