Series: The Darkness of Sin

Exposing the sin of our heart and soul helps see the light of God’s glory. One has to repent and confess their sins to get the forgiveness of God but needs the help of the Holy Spirit in every step. When one yields to the Holy Spirit, He helps them overcome sin and changes their lives.

The verse talks about Pharaoh asking Moses to pray for him to take the plague away. His problem was that he wanted to turn away from his sin when things were bad and he was struggling. However, when things became good and normal, sin came back into his heart.

Many Christians live likewise by taking decisions to not sin after hearing the sermon on a Sunday but going back to their sin on another day when things seam peaceful. The real problem with pharaoh was not the external symptoms of rebellion and disobedience but a hardened heart.

When one’s heart is hard and not in the right place, it may not respond well even if the person tries to change many times. One should pray and ask God to replace their heart of stone with a clean heart of flesh before praying about their sin or other things.

Seeds cannot be sown on hard ground. Even if they are sown, the roots won’t go deep and they will get uprooted even by the slightest turbulence.

One should pray that the Holy Spirit would plow their hard heart, break their hard heartedness, and cut through their stubbornness; not for a temporary season but for life. Many are performance based Christians who care about their purity only while leading worship, or taking communion, or preaching, and not when there are without responsibilities.

One should yield to God in every step to overcome their struggles for good and not go back to sin.
