Wisdom From Above

Welcome to this brand new morning that we have started. Even as we begin this day can we ask the Lord to give us new wisdom and understanding?

In James 1, the bible says if you need wisdom, you can ask God and He will give you wisdom without withholding.

He will fill you with wisdom and sometimes He will use the people around you, it could be your pastors, your physical or spiritual parents, your friends or though your circumstances.

The problem with so many of us is that we do not know how to discern wisdom, if it is coming from God or from the people around us. We are surrounded by a world full of human wisdom, everywhere we go, we will find a lot of myths of heaven’s wisdom and human wisdom and sometimes even the worldly wisdom and satanic wisdom.

We need to differentiate and discern and know which one that we should be listening to. If you are in that point where you are receiving a lot but you don’t know what is of God and what is not, the bible says we need to put it to test.

James 3:17 says, the wisdom from above is first of all pure. So if you are receiving from a true man of God, that man of God will inspire you to be pure and he will inspire you to imitate Jesus and will make you want to pursue righteousness.

The second thing it says, it is also peace loving. So it’s not just enough for us to be holy and pure, we also have to be people who love peace. So any conversations, any advice or counsel that tell you to pick up unwanted and unnecessary fights, it is not a wisdom from above.

You need to check if your conversations or listening to this teaching making you less or more peaceful. If it is heavenly wisdom, it has to encourage you to be peace loving.

The third thing it says is that it is gentle at all times. What is the opposite of gentleness? It is pride or arrogance. We have to develop the lifestyle of humility, surrendering our own will, desires and plans to God. If the wisdom that you are receiving is causing you to humble at all times, then that wisdom is from God.

One of the best proof that the wisdom is from the enemy is that it will cause you to take credit for what you have done and will push you to standup for your own self.

Wisdom from above is gentle at all times and make you value relationships. They might not be best people or not have similar personality or understanding, but if God has blessed you with that relationship, then it’s necessary to engage with all purity and gentleness.

This wisdom is full of mercy, which means we need to give mercy and show forgiveness.

It is also fruit of good deeds which means it’s not just in your talks but also in your deeds and its sincere.
