Transition in Seasons

In today’s Leadership talk podcast, Pastor Priji talks about the process involved in transition and how to discern the season of transitioning with examples from the bible. Hope this blesses you.

Transcript:

As a leader, not all the time will you be granted influence over a lot of resources or people but we need to learn to be faithful with the little that the Lord has given us. Time is a very important factor when we talk about leadership. There needs to be an understanding of times and seasons that God allots for us to lead which people group or domain. When we overshoot that timing or step into a sphere of influence before the right time, we have the potential of hurting people. If you are continuing to do a particular assignment for which you do not have the anointing, then the anointing that may be helping you function may not necessarily be from God.

King Saul continued to exercise his authority over the nation of Israel even though he was not supposed to be there and the consequence of him doing so was that he became demon possessed. We need to be very sensitive to understand the seasons where we are to lead and when does our season change.

As church leaders, pastors and worship leaders, it is necessary to know when to transition into the next season of life and also how to transition into the next phase of ministry, business e.t.c. It is important to be extremely careful to transition wisely and with the right frame of mind.

How often have you made a change in your position or responsibilities because you felt your seasons are changing?

Most of us, in our season of transitioning into the next level, we do so when we lack direction, are uncomfortable with the current things we are doing and don’t see growth. How often have we made changes in our seasons?

One of the things that makes a leader stand out is the fact that he has perspective/foresight, is interested in details, unsatisfied with mediocrity but has an intention to live a life of purpose and this is what defines one as a leader.

As a leader, if you have a vision of a correct perspective and have an idea of what you are doing then you will know your seasons of transition. We have to learn to be in sync with the voice of God on a regular basis and as we do so, He equips us. Whenever we overstay our welcome for a season, we overstep the grace given for that season and when we overstep grace given for a particular season, that is where failures and moral collapses happen. In this scenario, there is no longer grace that is covering.

At times when we see a lot of struggles and issues, then we think we need to move but that is not how we should. The best thing is to go back to the vision and evaluate. When we begin to evaluate and see that our season has come to the fullness of time, then it is a clear reminder for you to know that your current season has gotten over hence you don’t need to go doing the same thing over and over again.

I hope and pray that we will learn our leadership lessons from other peoples’ failures and not fail the way they did.

One more important factor that shows you are in the right season of life is the peace of God that you have in your heart. It is important for a child of God to learn the principle of being still before God because that is when you will be able to have complete evaluation of the peace of God that is inside of you. Apostle Paul stated he was in labor pains, that meant that the next season was about to come.

Do let us know how you discern that your season is over and are about to move to a new season. Also if you need counselling or prayers for your current season in life, we have mentors and leaders who would be more than glad to talk with you and hear you.
