Our True Belonging
Listen
Good morning and greetings in Jesus precious name. Welcome to this amazing new day. The lord is so gracious in the way that he deals with us. He employs new methods and strategies, new ways to renew our hearts into deep intimate personal relationships with Him. Today, His voice is calling out to you. His heart is beating for you. His emotions and feelings are going out for you. Will you and I respond to the grace, mercy and provisions that He made for us in the spirit?
The Bible says in the book of Romans 1:6, “you are included among those gentiles who have been called to belong to Christ Jesus.” Paul is writing to the church in Rome and he is telling them I know you that you are Gentiles and I know that originally you are outside the plan of God, I know you are not descended in the family of Abraham and yet I am extending the call of God to you because God has extended His family to you Gentiles and he says now you are included in the Gentile families. What is the peculiarity of this gentile family? He says you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Christ Jesus.
They are not called to belong to a religion, called to belong to a family line or culture, not even to a nation. For example the Jews, their calling was not just religious or spiritual, it was also connected to a physical land and nation. But for gentiles, for you and me, our calling was to belong to Christ Jesus Himself. Is there any other thing that we can attach ourselves to more precious than Jesus himself?. The Bible says that our calling is to belong to Jesus, to belong to a name that is above every other name. When we go to a particular office or organisation that we are working for we are usually proud about showing it off for other people especially if that company is reputed and a lot of branches, lot of influence and it is doing a good job. We are proud of the organization where belong or working. The Bible says you belong to Christ Jesus. that is your calling in life and that is your career, life goal, purpose and assignment. Call it whatever you want to call it but your ultimate goal in life has to belong, to be belonging to be in that place where your ultimate alliance, identity and connection is in Christ Jesus. When we understand this to be a truth and a fact in our life so many things we hold so dearly and near to our hearts will lose their value. The opinions of people, for example, the affection and love that we get from our close families and friends, our spouse, our children that we hold very dear to our heart.
The money, properties, physical resources we have accumulated from generation to generation so possessive about, all of them lose their value in our hearts. Now we say that our ultimate call in life is to belong to Christ Jesus. That is why Jesus looked at that rich young man who is affection and connection he had towards physical resources. He said to that rich man, “You need to sell everything you have and give it and come and follow me” because if you follow me giving away these things attached to you will never go find satisfaction in me. Because you will still be going to looking for alternative sources where you belong. You will be saying you belong to this place, property, this house etc. ‘
When we don’t give away things that we are attached in our walk with God, we will never find satisfaction in Him. Share on XGod is reminding us, our ultimate belonging is JESUS CHRIST, not even to the church or spiritual family. The spiritual family or church we are part of is the tenny unit of the body of Christ Jesus. As much as you think that your church is doing good, you are doing good work and God is using your pastor and church good, that is amazing. But, the church is the tenny unit of the body of Christ.
Your ultimate calling is to belong to Jesus Christ. Paul doesn’t say you are called to belong to me or the church of Rome. But Paul said ” You are called to belong to Christ JESUS himself” this privilege even Jews don’t have access to because they belong to their family line, they have to prove their genealogy, their ways of serving God in the past and present. But, we have direct access to JESUS.
We have provision, blessing and privilege because of what Jesus has done for us. That Jesus came and broke all the barriers between God and man. Now if you will put your trust in Jesus, we can completely, totally belong to Him and He belongs to us.
God bless you!
