Dealings will Return

Greetings in Jesus name. Welcome to this beautiful new morning and to this new week. I hope we are entering into this week with an excitement in our spirit and that we are equally vigilant and discerning of the traps that the enemy is trying to bring our way.
If our eyes are open, we will not just catch temptations from outside, we will also be able to catch those evil intentions and motives that lurk in the insides of our hearts. It is very easy for us to become proud and consecutively have a very wrong or a bad attitude towards the people around us. One of the ways to evaluate how the posture of our heart is to check how our words are! How do we respond to our brothers and sisters, when they receive a blessing do we rejoice with them. When they go through a sad calamity, do we weep and mourn with them or is it the other way around? Do we look down upon somebody who is blessed? Do we start judging and commenting upon their weaknesses? And when they fail, do we gloat over them?

The Bible says in Obadiah in chapter 1:12
Obadiah 1:12, KJV: But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

Back in the book of Genesis, we read that Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob who would be later known as Israel. The Israelites were the chosen ones of God. They were the ones with whom God walked with in very close contact.
But the people of Edom or Esau, they were neighbors and brothers to the people of Israel. And when Israel as a nation experienced it’s highs and lows because of their own idol worship and rebellion, the nation of Esau began to look down upon Israelites. That is when the Lord sends Prophet Obadiah to warn the nation of Esau and explain to them the consequence of looking down in verse 15
Obadiah 1:15
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
We see that the Lord is telling the nation of Esau that there is a day of reckoning coming, when everything that you do to your brothers will come back to you. That is why you have to refrain from judging, gloating, condemning your brother.

All of us know that if God has to keep a record of our sins, if God had to pull them up one by one, none of us will be perfect or be able to stand in front of God. It’s truly by the grace and mercy of God that we have access into His presence. Then why is it that we always try to prove that this brother or this sister is not good enough?
Please remember as we treat our brothers, so we also be treated. If we forgive them, then we will also be forgiven. If we love them, then we will also be loved. If we show mercy to them, then we will also receive mercy from the Lord. God’s warning upon this nation was very strong l. He said your dealings will return to curse you or to bless you. It will either return to provide for you or to steal from you.
Your dealings will return to provide encouragement or to being you discouragement.
That’s why Jesus says in the New Testament, do unto others as you want others to do unto you. There is a day and time that is set where the accounts will be cleared. As you sow, you will reap. As you give, you will receive back. I hope that as a church and family, we will be receiving love and not hatred. We will be receiving mercy and blessings, answers and favors.

Let’s pray together. Father, we thank you for giving us this day to repent from gloating over and from looking down on our brothers and sisters. We repent from condemning and judging out neighbors, and from all those accusations we have constantly thrown against other people, without remembering that one’s who don’t have a sin should be the first one to throw the stone.

We thank you God for giving us the grace to overcome and to be strengthened in our spirit to lay down any pride or arrogance we may have in our hearts. We thank You for the deals we are making today are of love, mercy, forgiveness and grace.
