Lamentations 4:2 reminds us that the precious children of Jerusalem were worth their weight in fine gold, even when they were treated like ordinary clay pots. In the same way, our worth as children of God is not determined by our achievements, spiritual performance, failures or the opinions of others. Even when we make mistakes, go through seasons of discipline or feel underestimated by those around us, our identity as God’s children remains precious. We must learn to see ourselves through His eyes rather than allowing rejection, comparison or condemnation to shape how we value ourselves. When we recognise the worth God has placed within us, we will stop treating our lives carelessly and begin to honour Him through our thoughts, words, choices and actions. This also means being careful about what we allow into our hearts and minds, the conversations we entertain and the influences we surround ourselves with. God has called us to live differently, set apart for His purposes. May we embrace our identity as His precious children and live in a way that reflects the value He has placed upon our lives.
