I am thoroughly enjoying this study on Taming Our Tongue. In fact I have been consciously practicing every thing I shared with you. It has not been easy, but the outcome has always been good!
Today’s subject is something which will carry us for generations and through ages. Just like the wrong you say have the power to destroy you or others, the right things you say, believe and confess have the power to build you up and prosper you.
Remember the fact that God used His words to create the whole universe. Everything you and I see around us today is result of the right things God spoke. All your circumstances can be defined and redefined by the speech of your mouth.
Let us define a believers confessions; it is anything you believe in your heart in accordance to the word of God and that you speak out loud, consistently with your mouth irrespective of your current physical or metaphysical state.
So that eliminates the workable possibility of reading confessions from books and papers without actually believing what it says. It is not going to benefit you or anybody.
The next thing is to confess things in accordance to the word of God. You cannot go around picking up anything and everything and begin confessing it over your life. It will bring more damage than good. Even twisted usage of the word of God, like the devil did while tempting Jesus is dangerous. Beware of the content of your confessions! If you are not sure of what you are speaking and saying, consult your pastor or leader and take their counsel on it before continuing on with it.
The third thing about it is that you have to do it consistently and diligently, irrespective of the circumstances. The bible talks about Job saying Blessed be Your name, even after hearing tragic loss stories of his property and family. There is no point in confessing all the right things through your life, but ending up questioning God in the hour of doubt and fear. Your confessions are again gone in vain.
Here are some blessings of building a lifestyle of speaking Believer’s confessions:
1. Your circumstances begin to respond to the word you are confessing.
2. Your destiny begins to align itself to the word you are confessing.
3. Your life and character falls in line with the word that you have been confessing.
4. Your pattern of thinking in your mind follows the word you are confessing.
5. The devil hear your confessions and is restricted in his offensive attacks against you because you are covered by the shield of faith by the word that you are confessing.
You can discover scriptures that you can use to confess over yourself in your regular times of bible reading and study. Let me also share a very reliable set of confessions charted out by Neil Anderson in his books and ministry at Freedom in Christ. If you don’t have anything else, start with these and speak them over your life everyday and see the consequent change in your own pattern of thinking and living.
Is there anything that you constantly confess over yourself? Please share with us in the comments so others who go through them can be helped and blessed by the same.
