I am back to my weekly blogging after an entire month’s break from the same. Click here to subscribe to this blog by RSS or Email. The past month was a great time of relaxing, at the same time of re-prioritizing a lot of things in my personal life. I happened to turn 24 this month, completing another year of life on this amazing planet, with a treasure of a family and dear precious friends. Also finished the 11th year of my walk with the Lord as a Christian. I am truly glad and grateful I could reach thus far..and I really mean it!
I remember so many instances when I have been saved from death by just a matter of few seconds or minutes. Some years back once when about to board a local train at a station in Mumbai, my foot slipped, but my hands held on, and I got dragged through the station with half my body hanging between the train and the station. I hit my head and was now losing consciousness and thus the grip on the bar of the train..had that happened, I would have fallen right beneath the train, onto the tracks. I came back to my senses a few minutes later on the station, my clothes torn and stained with blood, to realize that someone had pulled me out the very second I had fallen unconscious and had let go off the train! You can very well imagine how frightened and scared I was after knowing that I was just a few seconds from entering eternity.
Such instances have often driven me to think, pray and ask God to reveal His heart for how and why I should live today, instead of seeking for a 5 or 10 year plan. I am a visionary, I love to dream and plan for years and decades ahead. But if I am not living in the will of God for my ‘today’, I would not be able to live in it for the decade, let alone the coming year! So unlike the previous years, this year on my birthday I asked God “what should I do today?”, instead of asking about the year ahead.
And this is the word that came to me then, another one of Paul’s confessions “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21). God taught me that if I can learn to live each of my days in complete obedience, and surrender to him in daily living and dying, I would never wake up to find myself out of his will or divine plan for my life.
What are the things, reasons or motivations that you live for, everyday? And which of them are really worth dying for? Will you take time to reset your daily goals? Will you choose today to make living and dying for the glory and honor of the name of Jesus Christ as the only goal of your life?
I quote here the old hymn to express the goal for the rest of my life:
For me to live is Christ, to die is gain
To hold His hand and walk His narrow way,
There is no peace, no joy, no thrill
Like walking in His will
For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.
God bless you bro..!! your message is inspiring me to have a more closer walk with God..
Really glad to hear of that Ajo! Am encouraged! God bless you as well!!
