If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14

Many a times we categorize people who are yet to make a decision for Christ as seekers. And once they have understood and received the gospel and have a relationship with God we look at them as secure, no need to seek anymore, everything is at your disposal/orders. To some extent it is correct and to some extent not. Yes there is a sense of security that should take over us when we accept Jesus as Lord over our lives, but not to the extent that we start to believe that we know everything of God now and there is no more need to seek him! Such attitude is what leads to stagnancy.

Seek His Face

Seeking God is a gesture continual dependence on God. Bible, especially in the old testament is filled with examples of people who stopped seeking God, thus ending up in disaster. (2 Ch 12:14) However, Most of who were seeking God, also did so with a reason, for a deliverance or for a victory. There were seeking the wonders of his hands. Very few will you find throughout the scriptures and throughout history who sought the face of God. Moses was one of them! David was one of them. The face represents the identity of a person. A persons who seeks the face seeks the real person. These are the true and genuine lovers of God. David says, One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple! (Psa 27:4) Oh that we may genuinely pray a similar prayer all the days of our lives! And such a generation of true, genuine lovers of God are the ones who will pull down heaven’s revival in these last days.

Seek His Strength

Is it wrong to seek God for an answer to our prayers, of course No! The condition is that it should be prioritized properly. 1 Ch 16:11 says Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! First we seek the Lord, then his strength! Yes our God is an all powerful God who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think! (Eph 3:20, Ps 34:10) He is God! He is Holy! And He is Good! He loves to exhibit his goodness for his children. No matter what your need is, first seek God and then seek an answer to the questions that bother your life. And there is no question/problem/issue that God wouldn’t leave unresolved or unattended! That is His strength! Seek it!

Seekers will Find

And the good news is that God will never disappoint the seekers! If you are ready to seek him, He is ready to let himself be found by you! (Deut 4:29, Heb 11:6) He is ready to surprise you with his glory! He is ready to surprise you with his might and power! Can you imagine God’s response to a generation who cares nothing but to seek God and his face all the days of their lives! God WILL show himself strong on their behalf. (Ps 14:2, 2 Ch 16:9) That’s what is required in the church today! We have been doing a lot of things in God’s name, but it’s high time that God comes down and proves himself strong on our behalf to the world outside. That will create a revival which will shake the rich and the poor, the corporate world as well as the fish markets, the palaces as well as the slums! That is when true Joy will come to our towns, cities and nations! (1 Ch 16:10)

We might have walked with God for years or decades! But nothing compares to the joy of falling in love with him all over again. Nothing compares to wanting to know him more than ever before in our lives!

You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.” – Psalm 27:8
