The group of prophets from Bethel came to Elisha and asked him, “Did you know that the LORD is going to take your master away from you today?” “Of course I know,” Elisha answered. “But be quiet about it.” – 2 Kings 2:3 (NLT)

Transcript:

As we begin our day this morning, can we intentionally ask the Lord for direction concerning what He has called us to do, what our kingdom assignment is all about. Can we seek Him with a heart of service humbling ourselves in His presence? We need to be intentional to understand our calling, our responsibility to represent our Lord on this earth.

Ask yourselves this morning what are you prepared to use to carry out your kingdom responsibility. Are you going to use your abilities, your gifts, your talents or are you going to lead by your character, your accountability, your submission or your willingness to obey the voice and the word straight from the heart of our Lord.

In the Bible we see how Elisha was in total submission and had full accountability with his spiritual father Elijah. So even when the others came about to him talking of what they heard from God carrying just mere information, he continued to hold steadfast and was able to react to them in a way that told of his submission to Elijah. This not only showed that Elisha had the character of submission to his authority but also a revelation and an understanding of his spiritual covering.

It is very important for us to be mindful to not just have the right information but a revelation from the Lord, an understanding that can only come from above. Share on X

We should be able to choose to submit than rely on our prophetic gifts and abilities alone. This is not to say that these are not important or relevant but it should never be taken to account at the cost of our submission.

May we be encouraged to practice submission to all the authoritative figures our Lord has placed in our lives, whether it be a church or our spiritual leaders. May we be able to humble ourselves killing our pride and put aside our prophetic abilities, talents and gifts so that the Lord can elevate and honour us and give us what is due to us.

May the Lord bless you and cause His face to shine upon you, may His grace abound in every area of your life.
