It is very necessary that this season we take the necessary steps to take instructions from our leaders because they are also constantly hearing from God as it is unpredictable. So we need to trust those who God has placed ver our church and have an open line of communication with them. The church is made up of two kinds of people those who are voluntarily serving in the church and those who have been employed by the church. Going back in the bible we will find the differences between them as elders and deacons who were the administrators. They would evangelize and were not in Spiritual understanding with the nobody who can be paid enough to serve God. His work of saving souls is more valuable than all the gold and silver of the world. It is necessary as a leader to decide when a person is ready for a paid service in the church.

In various ministries, the concept of a church staff is like charity which is not bad. It is important to hire people who are already committed to working in the church already. As a principle, We loom out for those people who will be willing to work and those are the people who are potentially going to be hired as staff. It is very necessary as pastors and leaders to decide whether this person is ready to become a church staff or not. Secondly, it is also necessary to decide as a church whether there is a need for staff or not. If the church is a 50 member church then there is no need for a fifty member staff but as the church grows, there will be a need to proportionally increase the staff. According to the growth in the church, it is necessary to also increase the number of those who will serve full time.

Talking about bringing people, the obvious question will be how much will be the salary? The answer is whatever a person will be paid in a secular setting. In several seasons, we may not have been able to cater for our staff but it is something we desire to do for our staff as a church. Doing this is primarily to honour their work and commitment to the church. It is necessary to take ample time to hire people who are fully committed and loyal and when that kind of people are found, everything possible to invest in them should be done. Especially in those areas where there is a need to hire someone, One of those things that can be done is to express and carry that burden to the church leaders and the church. It is the entire church that will be blessed by the commitment of these people who will be employed by the church. Make sure to have constant vision casting with the church and be sure to find out methods to raise up funds. It is not wrong to raise fund for those who are serving the purpose and work of God but it should not be done for personal gain.

Many people have a different perspective about this and it’s perfectly fine. George Muller never had any reason to raise funds. In seasons where he never had, he made sure not to write newsletters and that’s how he lived. How will the church support you that can only be if they have the same drive and understand the churches needs? Secondly, it is necessary to communicate in the church the person who will serve in which part of the church and this is important to communicate with the church and this will make them trust you and be sure to see that those who are in need will be fully taken care of.

Like Paul, who constantly talked about the need for supporting those who have been of service to the church. It is necessary that many times there will be gathering between elders and the core team who carry the vision and the desires of the church. There was a particular season in my life where I decided to stop taking a salary to make sure someone who was in the church was well catered for. These seasons will come and it will be definitely worth it along as they are committed and loyal in their desires to push Gods to work forward. The Bible show us no oxen should be able to plough without being able to eat from the result of what they are ploughing. Like the first century church, there were structures and balances put in place but though they reached a point where there were too many things to cater for, some of them decide to withdraw from some of the major responsibilities and appointed Deacons. If you are a pastor you need to reach a place where you can outsource everything except your preaching or the prayer over the members. Hire people as proportional to the strength of your church and make sure to be able to take care of all their needs. We sometimes see people who are hired in the church who work from Monday to Friday in the corporate and come to serve in the church for the weekend diligently. One can desire to hire such a person by asking God to be able to pay enough as he/she is paid.

If you are aggressive in your doings it is necessary that your church staff embrace the same and when there are irregularities, it is good to have a talk with them and if there’s a place or area for an adjustment If there is a consistent pattern of being off sync with the staff or there are areas of the staff unwilling to grow, then it is necessary to let that person part ways and it doesn’t have to be done in a bitter or hurtful way or cause any sadness in their soul. You do not have to compromise the work of God in your church or what work God is doing in your church. May the Lord give you the grace to do the right things to communicate to your staff. Church work can be exhausting and tiring but Make sure your soul is well nourished that you will be an oasis to your church staff, feeding them spiritually and physically in every way possible.
