Boastful & Pretentious
What you ought to say is, “if the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” – James 4:15 NLT
Listen
The bible brings us to a balance in all the different areas of our life.
James says that people that make pretentious plans should be saying “if the Lord wants us to” rather than being boastful in our talking.
We hear people making radical declarations in church or at work saying “I’m going to do that and this” that seem to come from a place of faith but instead we can throw it back on God saying “if God wants me to do it” or if God’s heart is in it“. By this, we are giving God the honour to work in our lives.
The “I” factor has become the biggest problem in Christianity. Sometimes we think we know it all, but James says it is not right.
We need to bring balance in our declarations. We need to hear God’s voice before we make bold declarations.
Your reliance has to be on God. Your basis of prayer has to be on God. If it is not, then we are not going anywhere.
Before you make a declaration, pray for God’s will and then boldly say it!
Hope you will apply this in all the areas of your life.
