Too Mighty

Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed. – Numbers 22:6 KJV

Greetings in Jesus’ name. Today, the Lord has chosen to favour and bless us; exalt and elevate us. This is the truth, that has to remain with us throughout this day. If we are going to journey through our life without the awareness of God’s favour, his presence and protection, we are going to remain miserable. There are going to be negative, hurtful and harmful things that are spoken in the kingdom of darkness, over our marriage, our finances, our children, our siblings, our relationships etc… But, the one thing that is going to help us in these times of intense spiritual attack, is our awareness and our confession of who we are, and, who God sees us to be.

In the book of Numbers, chapter 22: 6, we see such an example; here is King Balak sending for Prophet Balaam with a message saying, “Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.”

Here is a King looking at a group of people, and says, this group is too big and powerful, too blessed and favoured for me. I don’t stand a chance against them in the natural, so, I don’t think I can get into a battle with them. The King knew about all the previous victories of this people, because, they were divinely lead by their God. He feared the same would happen to him, and his nation, if they war against Israel. So, he requests Balaam, to curse this people and say something that bring dishonour over their lives, so that they become disconnected from the grace and favour of God. Once they are disconnected from that favour, Balak’s people could smite and prevail over them.

Let us look into the scheme that is employed here. The only reason why the enemy cannot prevail over us, or smite us, or cannot drive us out of our promises is because we are still connected to the source of our blessing. The day we lose sight of that, or the day the enemy convinces us, it’s all a lie, we are now going to be a victim of what the enemy declares over our life. The pagan King in this story, believed in the power of words and told Balaam, the prophet. I know, I understand, I believe that whatever you bless is blessed, and, whatever you curse is cursed. So, I want you to curse the nation of Israel, on our behalf.

There is an accuser of the brethren that is always speaking words that are demeaning, condemning and trying to bring us down in the spiritual heaven, every single day. But, if we can rise up to bless ourselves, our marriage, our church, our community, our city, our nation, and if we can believe what God has said about us, how he’s going to use us, how he’s going to bless and elevate us, then the enemies plan to steal, kill and destroy from our life is not going to be successful. Instead, everything that the enemy does to us, will be turned around to become a greater blessing, a greater promise, a greater adventure, in the spirit for us and our future.
