Stay Cool & Alert
Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. – 1 Peter 5:8:11 (The Message)

Greetings in Jesus’ name. Welcome to this beautiful new day. This season has been declared as a season of rest and of restoration. In this season, it’s necessary that we keep our guard on, and remain alert, because the enemy if always trying to hurt us and bring us down in our heart, mind, and bodies. We need to be highly on guard.
1 Peter 5:8-11 – “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen.”
There’s great hope for our future because our generous God has great plans and promises for us. That is our future, we will not be stuck in this current mess forever. Whatever is your pain, shame, guilt, worry or struggle; today, know that there is a better tomorrow coming; there’s a blessing coming that’ll make you forget what you experienced in this last season.
So the Lord is telling us to keep a cool head, relax and take it easy. Remember, this is a season of rest. It’s not a season for you to be anxious but to be at peace. If you will allow the Lord to have His way in your life, you will not regret this season of rest.
He also says that you need to stay alert, on guard, and prepared at all times. Just because you’re resting, it doesn’t mean you don’t have oil in your lamp or you forget who you are, or be disconnected from God. In your rest, stay alert because the devil is waiting to jump; he’s walking around like a lion looking to see who he can devour. That is why every child of God needs to be on guard 24/7 all through their lives. There will come a day when the devil will not be a threat anymore; when we reach that point in eternity, we will have to not worry about anything and be at a perfect state of rest without being on guard and without being alert all the time. But on this side of eternity, when the devil is still active and still trying his best to take you down, you cannot take down your alertness. The way the devil attacks me is not the way he attacks some of you, which means we need to keep a close watch at what the Lord is speaking to us. He is going to prepare us and not keep us without knowing the scheme of the enemy. If the enemy is planning something, it will be brought to light even before he tries to attack you. You will not be taken by surprise, but instead, you’ll be fully prepared and armed to take down the attack of the enemy.
It says, that the devil would like to catch you napping, that is why you need to keep your guard up. You need to remain active in your defense.
Apostle Peter goes on to say that you need to keep a firm grip on your faith, cling to your faith, and be founded on your faith. Make sure your faith is always on the highest level. The faith that God has given us also acts as a shield to stop all the fiery darts of the enemy. And when he is trying to attack you in certain areas of your life, your faith will stand as a shield to protect you. Even if you see the enemy up close, you cannot believe the lies that tells you, or believe the greatness of his threats that he projects; you have to believe what God says because the One Who is on your side is greater than the one who is against you. The One Who is for you is mightier than the one who is against you. The One Who is in you, is greater than the one who is in this world. If you believe that, and if you have a firm grip on the faith, then you will be alert and can take down any attack of the enemy. This is God’s plan and desire that you rest, and at the same time you remain alert.
