Benefits without Relationship

Apr 25, 2019 | Discipleship

Matthew 21:38 HCSB
““But when the tenant farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance! ’”

Here, Jesus was specifically speaking about Himself being the son and the Pharisees and Sadducees being the tenant farmers who are trying to attack and kill Jesus and try to take the inheritance for them.

So often we aim at achieving things and receiving things that are not rightfully ourselves that we have not worked for. There are things that belong to the children of God, and we want to experience those things without actually cultivating a relationship with our Father God.

It is not that the Father does not want us to enjoy His inheritance without the relationship, but the relationship puts a protective cover around how we use our inheritance. It is necessary that everything we do will be covered with the relationship with God. Without a relationship with God if we are only looking for the benefits of being child of a King without actually wanting the responsibility of being a prince in His kingdom, then it is a problem.

Everything that God has called us comes with its own share of responsibility where we have to learn to respond to the grace of God, yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and yield to the presence of God in our lives on a continual basis to fulfill the purpose of God in our life.

When we want to live our lives devoid of everything, that is when we are trying to get the inheritance without being the son and without knowing that there will be a consequence or punishment for that.

If we sow a relationship with God and invest into our walk with God, into our personal growth with God in understanding the heart and the mind of God and walking in His ways, then the investments will have huge returns and amazing benefits.

Be encouraged to go after God and not to go after only the blessings, to go after His face and not just the wonders of His hand, to go after His heart and not just the signs, wonders, and miracles and let us not be devoid of our relationship with God because the relationship with God is the one protective cover around our inheritance, life, blessing and around everything that we are doing with our life.

So let us keep our relationship with God as our top priority today.
