Called by God
Hebrews 5:4 NLT
And no one can become a high priest simply because he wants such an honor. He must be called by God for this work, just as Aaron was.
Becoming a high priest is a responsible job, but the Bible says he must be called by God for this work just as Aaron was.
It was not Aaron’s choice that he became a high priest but it was God’s desire and decision to make him one.
Jesus is our high priest in the new covenant and even Jesus was chosen by God to be our high priest. How much more the same principle applies to us.
1 Peter 2:9 and 2 Corinthians 5 mentions about we being a royal priesthood and how our job is to reconcile people to God.
Every man of God in the Bible was chosen and handpicked by God. God called Philip to be an evangelist, Paul to be an apostle specifically to the gentiles and Peter to the Jews. The same is true with the people in the old testament.
Doing anything beyond what God has called us for will not going to be fruitful.
Many of us wants to be called by God for His work but we don’t have the patience to wait and listen to what He wants us to do.
We need to be driven by the heart of God to do His work rather than any opportunity or our need. Share on XSo often in the Bible we see how Jesus would withdraw from a need in order to go to the next place where He is called to.
