We are talking about Ruth’s loyalty that she exemplified. It was not just a passive loyalty but an active and aggressive loyalty unlike what Orpah did.
In Ruth 1:16, we see Ruth making a covenant, a vow and a sacrifice of who she is. Almost to the point of losing her identity for the sake of the person that God has called her to walk with.
There are different kinds and levels of covenants and commitments that God may call you to, but it is necessary that everyone of the relationships around you, know that there is commitment that you are into the relationship.
Commitment to your church/Pastor:
Is it possible for you to commit to your pastor like Ruth did?
Tell this to your pastor:
Don’t ever ask me to leave you, because wherever you go I will go. Wherever you live I will live. Your people, your church, your ministry, your dreams will be mine. Because your God is my God.
Be the hands and feet to make those visions and dreams come to pass.
Don’t just say it, but mean it with actions. Out of the abundance of your heart your mouth has to speak it out.
Make a covenant with your family, or your pastor or your friends that you will stand with them and be with them in this season. That you will be for them and not against them. By doing this surely the favour of God will begin to descend upon your relationships.
As christians we so many times underemphasise on our relationships with the people around us, because we think that as long as our relationship with God is sorted out, it doesn’t matter how we treat the people around us. That is why Jesus said – Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbour. Both are equally important.
If you have a covenant with God then it should automatically manifest in your covenant with with your relationships around you. Most of the things that Jesus said in the sermon on the mount was about relationships. Jesus said – let your yes be a yes and no be a no.
If you want to be serious about the relationships that God has given you then you got to make a covenant.
Today, write down the names of the people whom you’d want to make a covenant with. Sometimes it may seem that they might misuse your covenant, that is perfectly fine, but remember you are not doing this trusting in that person but the word of God. Depend on God to help you keep that commitment.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
