Development of Holiness
2 Corinthians 7:1 TPT
Beloved ones, with promises like these, and because of our deepest respect and worship of God, we must remove everything from our lives that contaminates body and spirit, and continue to complete the development of holiness within us.
A wonderful reminder that God still loves you and He wants you to value the relationship you carry with Him despite any situation. We think that when God restricts us from a particular thing is because He does not want to give us the freedom which is not true. He does that to see us living as liberated spirits fulfilling His purpose on this planet. His instructions protect our minds, bodies and also spirits.
In the initial part of the scripture, it speaks about the continuation of development in holiness. In this context, Paul is addressing the church about the completion of holiness within them. The instruction given by Paul is that there are two motivational forces that leads to the complete development of holiness within them. Firstly, knowing the promises, destiny and purpose of your life by God. Secondly, the deepest respect and worship of God.
Our promises of God can be foiled if we compromise and live an unholy life. Also, our worship can be contaminated if we let our holiness be taken over by other things. If these two forces can be our reason to pursue holiness, then we will be able to walk in everything that God has planned for us. In order to fulfil these promises, we must remove everything that contaminates our body, mind and spirit. It is necessary for us to internationally removes the influences over our body mind and spirit.
Let us pursue holiness because of the promises waiting for us and our calling to worship.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
