Disconnect from Defilement
Leviticus 7:21 NLT
If you touch anything that is unclean (whether it is human defilement or an unclean animal or any other unclean, detestable thing) and then eat meat from a peace offering presented to the LORD, you will be cut off from the community.”
This morning is our opportunity to draw near to God and to expect and receive something from God.
In the new testament, the word of God has given us this opportunity to come to the Father with boldness trusting in Him and His ways. But this was not the same in the old testament.
In the verse from the book of Leviticus, if you happened to touch anything that is suppose to be unclean then you cannot eat meat from the peace offering. In other words, if you have had any association with any unclean things of the world you cannot associate with the presence of God. The punishment for doing this was the person would be cut off from the community.
But is this the same in new testament?
God is not going to reject you if there is impurity in you because God loves you too much, the bible says nothing in all of creation can separate you from God’s love.
But our challenge is not that we don’t believe that God will forgive us but it is that we have taken the forgiveness of God for granted and that is why we continue to remain in defilement and take part in the Lord’s table with no self examination.
The bible says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. How do you take care of your body? Are you passionate enough to guard your purity? We may be passionate about our ministry and the things that we do for the Lord and we try to take both forward at the same time which is not possible because God says either we be hot or cold.
But God wants us to serve Him wholeheartedly.
In 1 Corinthians 5, the bible says a person has to be removed from church due of sin, because the sin is like yeast that will spoil the entire dough.
The world is full of challenges and if you do have any, open it up to your pastor or mentor and get rid of it because God wants to restore the peace that you have lost and walk forward in freedom.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
