Series: The Book of Isaiah

We have been going through the book of Isaiah. Making the Bible the foundation of our life built on solid rock.

Today we are in Chapter 4 of the book. The verse uses terms like ‘beautiful Zion and clean Jerusalem’.

Mount Zion is considered the holy and the tallest mountain. A mountain of blessing and honour. Jerusalem is a city built on seven hills and there was a lot of worship that took place towards the name of God.
In the New Testament, Zion and Jerusalem represents ‘The Church’ – the bride of Jesus.

The verse is very ironic by having used terms like ‘filth’ and ‘beautiful’ together. However, this irony is true about our lives too.

The righteousness of Christ makes our life beautiful. When we put our faith in Jesus our righteousness is replaced by His.

The Bible says in Romans 5:1 (ESV) – Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

As we read the verse again, let’s ponder on ‘what is that filth that we have in our lives?”

As we walk through our day and different circumstances in life, it is natural to accumulate dust, sinful tendencies and habits because of which Jesus washed Peter’s feet, in a similar way we need to let God wash us for allowing our relationship to grow.

Will you let the Lord wash your feet and cleanse it?

The verse goes on to explain ‘cleanse Jerusalem of its bloodstains’.

Bloodstains are developed when there is killing and murder. In our age, we can develop that by using words to hurt and kill.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:22 (ESV) – But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”

We all have bloodstains by the muderous thoughts we have in our hearts. God says in the verse that He will cleanse it with the hot breath of fiery judgement.

Question: What is a fiery judgement? – It’s more of a season of discipline in life.

The reason God allows a hot breath over beautiful Zion is to get filth off her legs and cleanse Jerusalem from the bloodstains in her heart.

Yield to the discipline that God is taking you through. As you allow Him through the process you’ll come out pure white and clean.

Prayer:

“Father I pray for every brother and sister to experience the goodness and grace of God in their life. If there is any bloodstain or filth left I pray You will allow the hot breath of fiery judgement upon our sin and addiction and get them out of our lives forever. Let God arise and let His enemies scatter in Jesus mighty name! Amen!”
