Foundation of Hope
Colossians 1:23 GNT
“You must, of course, continue faithful on a firm and sure foundation, and must not allow yourselves to be shaken from the hope you gained when you heard the gospel. It is of this gospel that I, Paul, became a servant—this gospel which has been preached to everybody in the world.”
We are built upon Jesus – a strong foundation. Anytime we build our life and don’t have a strong foundation, we are destined to fail in our life.
When we build our life, we should take an extra effort to build a strong foundation by which we can make sure that building will not fall.
Faith, the blood of Jesus, the presence of Holy Spirit, the teachings of Jesus and the word of God that the Apostles taught are the several foundations of the new testament church.
Apostle Paul is talking about one of the foundations in Colossians 1:23. Paul is saying that he is a servant, a slave and a messenger of the gospel. This gospel has the power to give us hope and the hope that we receive through this gospel is a foundation. He says make sure that nobody tricks us of this hope.
Why do we need hope?
Christianity is not only about what Jesus has done for us on the cross 2000 years back. Christianity also means what God is about to do for us in our tomorrow and in the days to come. That’s why we need hope. Hope is a very strong foundation of the new testament church.
Many of the teachings points back to the finished work of Jesus on the cross. What the finished work of the cross made possible for us is to have a hope for a beautiful tomorrow. That hope helps us to look to Jesus, to look to heaven and to look for healing in area of our life.
Without hope we cannot operate our faith. The reason for faith is we have a hope for healing.
Hebrews 11:1 says, hope being the essential element for faith and to believe.
When we pray for someone and don’t have hope for that person to be healed, then you cannot have the necessary faith to see that person to get healed.
God released hope and faith in us when we received the message of Jesus Christ.
If you didn’t receive that hope or do not have a reason to look into your tomorrow , then truly you did not receive Jesus.
Bible says we must continue to be faithful to stay on this firm foundation and we must not allow anything to be shaken from this hope that we gained by receiving the gospel of Jesus.
Many people may say the world will be destroyed, persecuted and killed and nothing good will come to pass, but there is a hope that will keep us standing in those seasons.
Jesus didn’t come to tell us that He is going to destroy everything. He came to tell us that there is a hope, prosperity and future He prepared for our tomorrow.
Are you willing to stand upon that hope? Are you willing to lay down all your disappointment, discouragement at the feet of Jesus and say that is not your foundation?
Your foundation is your hope and dream in Christ Jesus. Realign your thoughts to focus on the hope rather than your failures.
