Glorify Herself

Jan 16, 2020 | Discipleship

Revelation 18:7 KJV
“How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.”

Today’s scripture talks about God’s judgement of Babylon. In this context, Babylon is a woman. This speaks about the counterfeit church, the church who is to be His bride. This woman is being counterfeited by the Babylonic system which in turn brings immorality with the kings of the earth.

This is not speaking about the world but the deceived church. This describes about the church that is behind the pleasures and comforts of the world. In this context, the lady committed immortality to the kings of the earth which would provide her access to them.

When God gives us the responsibility of influencing or empowering people, it’s not at the sacrifice of downgrading your spirituality, value system or doctrine to the people you are ministering.
In the recent, many men and women of God fail to talk about sin, sensitive issues because of fear. They are not being intentional in bringing out discipline. This connects us to the lady in the context, who brings down her doctrine with a motive to seek more pleasure.

In the scripture, the lady tries to move God with her faith. This could be a church confessing and believing the right things but the desire for comfort, glory of itself.

Do not begin to glorify yourself. God will elevate you where people would come looking for you. In the Word of God, nobody promotes or glorifies themselves. For example, Nehemiah was the closest to the kings but never searched for promotion but he waited for the king to come in search of him.

May the Lord elevate & increase you this season. May the Lord turn your brokenness into beauty. You do not have to pursue pleasure at the risk of glorifying yourself.

As the scripture says, How great her glory was so would be her sorrow. Let us not glorify ourselves and end up in this situation. As we see, it is the end of a counterfeited church.

If God is trying to indicate your pride, insecurity or your identity in something else which is holding you back from a life of purity, let us repent and come back to Jesus. Let us increase and elevate in our walk with God. And you will shift from a Babylonic system to a system of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the bride and the new testament church.

We urge you not be the Babylon but the Jerusalem.
