Our calling in life is not to display “our righteousness”, it is to display “God’s righteousness”. Share on X
There are several things we do to show how good we are. But! all of that, is a display of “our righteousness”.
In this season, the Lord is asking not to show off our righteousness because our righteousnesses is like filthy rags – (Isaiah 64:6).
But, His righteousness is what will hold for eternity!
The book of James 1:20 NLT warns us stating – Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
We can be angry and expect a particular response from people, and the Bible says human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. In other words, the righteousness we emphasize on with human anger is, “human righteousness”, a righteousness that is not ‘valid’ in God’s eyes.
Often we justify our need to be angry, upset, rude or raise our voice against somebody and here the Bible is clear about human anger not producing the righteousness God desires.
What we can do rather than giving into human anger is to rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Many times, we are faced with people that do not align with our viewpoint, our perspectives, our understanding on ethics or morality and our natural response may be to express our anger or frustration towards them which can produce temporary submission.
The problem with human anger is, it doesn’t produce change of heart, doesn’t renew anybody’s mind.
In the Old Covenant God resorted to anger. But, in the New Covenant God decided to write His laws, His heart and mind upon our hearts and transform us from the inside.
Our focus shouldn’t be on external signs of change or improvement, rather, it ought to be on something that is deep, real and personal. A change from the inside out, a change that comes from godly conversations, a change that comes when you express love, a change that happens when you’re being patient with the other person.
This change requires the fruit of the spirit. Human expression, anger, reactions cannot produce the righteousness God desires.
When you employ the fruit of the spirit that will produce the righteousness that God desires!
Take time to meditate on this, till this word becomes a revelation to you and your lifestyle changes!
