We need to make a habit to start our day and every thing that we would be doing in a day, by asking God to give us direction. The more we do this, the more we become like Jesus.

Jesus also went through the same issues (anger, jealousy, misunderstandings), from His friends and families, but how did Jesus truly live?

Here’s is the key:

1 Peter 2:17, exemplifies the life and characteristics of Jesus. It has 4 types of honor that we need to invest on a daily basis.

1 – Honour Everyone
This includes believers, non-believers, sinner, or even a criminal. As long as they have life, they are created in the image of God and hence we need to honour them.

2 – Love the Brotherhood
This talks about the people who are the one who believe and loves Jesus, with them we need to go beyond honor, that we need to love them. Our honor towards them needs to exceed from mere respect of who they are, to the unconditional love.

3 – Fear God
This is something that we miss out on, we love to honour people, we sacrificially bless the church, but sometimes we miss the fear of God in our hearts and hence falling into the lifestyle of sin. In this verse Peter says to honour everyone, love the church and also to fear God because the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. This fear is not the fear of being punished but of knowing that God is holy.

4 – Honor the Emperor
When Peter says honour the emperor, he is talking about the time, when the emperor was persecuting Jesus, but he still says that we need to honor them, unless when the rules are in direct conflict of what God has spoken to us. Where ever we are placed in we need to obey the rules of the place else we end up taking things in our hand. However, your honour and fear of God has to exceed your honour to the emperor.

If we follow these keys in our everyday life, we will become more and more like Jesus.
