Ruth was a friend to Naomi while Orpah was externally acceptable. God is interested in the heart. Ruth figured out the meaning of being a friend. People like Ruth flourish in relationships.
Ruth was intentional about her relations.
In relationships, one should not be just led by their emotions but be intentional about it. One should be able to control and direct their emotions in a way that glorifies God.
According to Bible, when Naomi asked Ruth and Orpah to leave, they initially said no, but when she explained rationally, Orpah kissed her good-bye but Ruth clung to her.
Orpah was not wrong and did the logically right thing. She did something that was ordinary for a person in her place to do, but Ruth did something extra ordinary and unexpected.
Ruth was assured that Naomi was placed in her life by God and didn’t want to be separated from her.
One should cling tightly to the people that God meant to be in their life like pastors, parents, siblings, or people who are not very interested in the relationship.
Orpah did something ordinary and expected but Ruth didn’t and received the favour of God.
Ruth made history by being intentional about her relationships and clinging to the one that God placed in her life. One should examine the relationship that God wants them to restore and work on it.
