Lifestyle of Deception

Jan 31, 2019 | Discipleship

2 Peter 2:18 NLT
They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.

We need to surround ourselves with right kind of friends, Jesus followers, pastors and leaders, because people have the potentiality to destroy our lives.

Sometimes even Christians have the potentiality to cause the destruction.

Naomi was surrounded by people who believed being in Moab was better than Bethlehem. She was swayed away by their opinion and went out of Bethlehem hoping that it was right. But when she went to Moab, she faced the loses.

There are so many people who lead others to sin. In 2 Peter 2:18, it says this is how we can identify those people. If you find someone who is constantly talking only about themselves then you have to be extremely aware of their plans and hidden agenda for your life. God calls all kinds of bragging as empty and foolish.

Sometimes we may not have bad intentions but if we fall in those category, then we need to change, repent and turn to God. Ask God to help you get out of it completely.

Scripture also say “with an appeal to twisted sexual desires“. It says there are people who go to an extent of sexually seducing the people that are following them and trying to keep them in the emotional and sexual bondage. We should always be weary of the pastors, leaders, teachers and anybody that is constantly deceiving, lying, gossiping or talking ill about some one else.

It may not always be about sexual relationships, it can also be emotional and deceptive bondage or manipulative bondage that they may want to get you in. Every selfish spirit is born from the pit of hell.

The one way that we can understand the Spirit of God is by knowing that God always operates out of the Spirit of love. God is defined by love. We cannot experience Jesus and not experience His love for us.

It’s not possible if you are a child of God you constantly talk all about yourself. If you find someone like that, that will end up as wall of deception around you. So guard your heart, mind and spirit. Don’t let those kind of people (even be it your friends) influence you.

Prayer:
May God release His grace and freedom over your life. May God give you absolute peace in this next season. May God surround you with right kind of people who are selfless and Jesus kind of people and leaders in the next season of your life.
