Isaiah 28:9-10 NLT
“Who does the LORD think we are?” they ask. “Why does he speak to us like this? Are we little children, just recently weaned? He tells us everything over and over- one line at a time, one line at a time, a little here, and a little there!”
Series: The Book of Isaiah
The entire bible is filled with directions, instructions and godly perspective to every area of our life. The word of God is the language of God. It is the medium that God speaks to us.
But if you read from Isaiah 28:9-10 verses, people are upset that God is giving detailed instructions as a father would give to his small child.
The Israelites during this time have come to a place where they are independent of God and that they can do anything without His instructions and listening to His voice.
God is interested in every details of our life. He is not only interested but also wants us to be fruitful and so He gives instructions.
The more you yield yourself to God and ask Him to speak, direct and minister to you, the more your life will be on right track.
If you read the verses down in this chapter, God says if they would not listen to His voice, He is going to make their enemies speak to them. And they wouldn’t speak gently like Him, but by their sword and fist which would be painful.
So God says its better to listen to Him and take help from Him, it doesn’t matter if it seems you are like a little child.
Instead of resisting His voice, begin to invite His presence into your life and you will see your day will never be the same again and it will resemble the principle of His kingdom.
Psalm 147:2–3 reveals God's heart as a Restorer rather than a Punisher. Although Israel went into exile because of its own rebellion, God did not abandon His people. Instead, He promised to restore Jerusalem, bring the exiles home, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up their wounds.
The message reminds us that while God may use friends, pastors, counselors, or loved ones to help us, true healing and restoration ultimately come from the Lord. His restoration reaches every part of our lives—our hearts, relationships, health, finances, emotions, and spiritual walk.
God knows every wound, including those hidden from others. Unlike people, who can only comfort from the outside, He sees the deepest parts of our hearts and heals completely. His healing is so complete that even the scars of past pain lose their power to define us.
The devotion encourages believers to fix their eyes on God instead of relying solely on human help. No matter how far someone has drifted, how many mistakes they have made, or how broken they feel, God is still calling them back. His desire is to restore, heal, and make all things beautiful in His perfect timing.
