Transcript

Greetings to you in Jesus’ name.

Welcome to this beautiful new day; wherever you are, we want you to take a moment to worship the Lord, to pray and ask him for His grace, strength and ability to manisfest for you. We are dependent on God.

If we would try to do even a single day of our lives without God’s presence and provisions, we would be utter failures. We will end up in sin and demonic strongholds, we will end up in relationships or conversations that will take us away from God. It is necessary that everyday we depend on God’s grace, mercy, presence and power to lead, fill and provide for us.

Here is a prayer by the Psalmist David in Psalm 14:4
“Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
And do not call on the Lord?”

This verse is talking about a category of people that is known as the workers of iniquity, injustice, or wickedness or the ones who constantly make a practice of doing evil. The Psalmist says these workers are aware of what they are doing and of the outcome of their life and of their eternal destiny. They are not doing it out of ignorance. The works of iniquity mentioned here are hurting God’s children, destroying them, creating a stumbling block, causing strife and challenges for them. The workers of iniquity finds these very ordinary and common to hurt other people. They don’t find it offensive at all and have taken it for granted. This has become their lifestyle.

Can you imagine reaching a place where you are not hurt when your family or friend is hurt; where someone else’s tears don’t break your heart and it now becomes usual for you to constantly hurt people who love and surround you especially those that are placed by God to be a blessing to you. These are categorized by the Psalmist as workers of iniquity. The Bible says the workers of iniquity certainty know and are aware of the crimes they are guilty of.

In the old testament, out of the 10 commandments, majority of them are on how you should not hurt people. All these were given specifically so that our relationships with the people around us are healthy and so that we will continue to love them in the same way we love God. That’s why Jesus mentioned loving your neighbor as an equally important commandment like loving the Lord your God with all your soul, mind and strength.

The said verse says, ‘ they do not call upon the Lord’

First iniquity being they eat up God’s people like they eat bread.
Second being they do not pray nor depend on the Lord. They do not ask for His mercy and grace in any aspect of their life.

Many of us read the first part of this verse and say that’s not for me, but let me ask you; do you call upon the Lord or enquire of His presence? Do you wait on Him, hear from Him? Do you love him to lead and direct you, to guide every single moment of your life?
If no, then you are also equally qualified to become a worker of iniquity. So, if we have lived a life that is devoid of God, his presence, power, then we are in great trouble.

It is necessary that we depend on the Lord every single day for every choice and decision. Similarly, it is necessary that we do not eat up God’s people as we eat bread. May that not be said about you or me. Let us surrender our hearts, actions, behavior, into the hands of the Lord and ask him to guide, lead, mold us every passing day especially for the course of today.

Let’s pray, Father we thank you for the grace that is howering over this message. Thank you for filling us with the ability to call upon the Lord every single day. Thank you for the ability to love our neighbors every single day. Thank you for this grace to be workers of righteousness, justice and goodness. We thank you Lord for this word.

In Jesus name. Amen.
