Redefine Priorities

Oct 2, 2019 | Evangelism

1 Corinthians 8:13 NLT
“So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.”

This is an opportunity that God has given us so we can take His word out there, and the good news.

Everyday we are alive is an opportunity to give glory and honor and praise to God. Sometimes it is just an active effort to reveal God to somebody else. We could be the channel of hope for somebody who desperately needs hope in their lives.

We need to change our lifestyle to such a way that we are not causing people to question if we really mean what we say.

There are several secular leaders and atheists who believe in the teachings of Jesus but don’t follow Him because of Christian leaders and their lifestyles and are so anti-Jesus in their leadership.

1 Corinthians 8:13 – If what I eat causes another believer to sin, then I will not eat meat again as long as I live. For I don’t want another believer to stumble.

What Paul’s saying is if he eats meat and causes another new believer to stumble or stop from receiving in their revelation of who God is, then he won’t eat it, for what is important for him is that his friends trust and grow in God rather than his personal entertainment.

Paul is willing to change in every aspect of his life if it means one more person can grow in the Lord, have an encounter with God and have an experience with God.

We think that what we think or say, or eating non-veg, is not really sinful. Infact, it’s not written in bible that we can only eat vegetarian, but don’t go into all the theological understandings of the bible on these matters but if it is causing another person or new believer to stumble then we must stop. For their relationship with Christ and salvation is more important than personal pleasure.

We need to change our preferences and priorities. When we stand in front of God in heaven, we won’t be asked how our life was or what cars we drove or how much pleasure we had, but we would be asked an account of the number of people that were impacted by our life.

In this life if we are able to contribute into somebody’s life to eternity, then the reward we receive will be great and incomparable to the sacrifice we’d have to make here on earth.
