Greetings in Jesus name! Welcome to this beautiful new morning! I pray that today you will experience divine favour with God. It is not possible that you can walk with God on a daily basis, that you can pray every day, that you can read the bible every day, that you can speak in tongues every day and not have a transformed life. By default, when we experience the presence of God in our life it opens us up for unprecedented access and favour and blessings.
Any man or woman who has been elevated into the presence of God, when they come back into the physical environments around them, begin to shift, begin to treat him differently, they begin to honour him differently. Such is the story of this man by the name Jacob. Jacob had just encountered God. He had wrestled with an angle all through the night and he had encountered the face of God. The bible says in Genesis Chapter 33:10, he is now speaking to his enemy, Esau, the brother that Jacob cheated and stole from, the brother that Jacob coerced into giving away his birth right and stole his blessing that was supposed to come to him from his father.
The Bible says in Genesis 33:10. But Jacob insisted “no, if I have found favour with you please accept this gift from me. What a relief it is see your friendly smile. Because it is like seeing the face of God.”
Today, I am prophesying over you, “the encounters that you have had in this last season is going to bring you a friendly smile in front of your enemies.” The encounters that you experienced during your times of prayer, fasting, extended lingering in the presence of God is going to draw you to a place of unexpected, unprecedented favour. Favour is favour not when it comes from friends or strangers, especially when it comes from people that don’t like you, when they begin to smile at you, welcome you, begin to celebrate you that is a friendly smile and that is something that only God can do. That is exactly what Jacob experienced here. He is now persuading his brother saying “you have no idea how valuable this smile is., you have no idea how much I can see the face of God in this smile. In fact, he was seeing his brother, Esau, who was smiling at him. Esau did not look like God, didn’t smell like God, didn’t have the characteristics like God. Yet, when Jacob was seeing Esau smile at him, he could all of a sudden connect it to the wrestling match that he had with the angle a couple of nights back. He could almost see the smile that Esau had was a result of the smile that God had on his face when Jacob wrestled with God.
That is why Jacob says “I can’t see your face and not be happy about it. I can’t see your face and not give you an offering for it, I can’t see this friendly smile and not do anything about it. I have to sow into this, give towards it. I have to make sure that I have an inheritance in the smile. The one reason why Jacob was intentional at giving a gift to Esau was not necessarily to calm him down. We may think that it is only to make sure that Esau doesn’t get upset and angry that Jacob was giving him gifts. But it was also because he could see the face, favour, blessing of God when he saw the face of his enemies.
A friendly smile from our enemies is a favour from God. Share on X
Now, that is something that I am declaring over you. If you have paid a price in this last season in seeking God, sitting at his feet, making sure to tune into these devotions every morning to receive a word, a prophetic direction from God, then you are strategically placed and positioned for favour. Favour with your enemies, with people that don’t expect to show you favour, in situations where you can’t get any other way. I declare this over your life that you are going to experience favour. In the mighty name of Jesus may you experience the smile of God, the face of God, grace of God. When you do that, don’t hesitate to sow into that relationship, to sow or invest into that business opportunity, give into a ministry or an organisation that in the last season has in fact hurt you, threatened you, has done everything to bring you down. You don’t need to necessarily partner with them.
Esau’s offer was that Jacob would partner with him and go with him. Jacob refused to do that, but Jacob was still willing to sow into that relationship because he could see the face of God in a friendly smile of Esau.
