Spirit Controlled Decisions
Listen
Good morning and greetings in Jesus precious name. Today, let’s meditate on Romans chapter 8 verse 9. Apostle Paul here is giving us a declaration, a confession that we can hold on to. He is saying, my dear friends, those that believe in Jesus, you are not controlled by sinful nature but are controlled by the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul is trying to establish two types of people here, those that are controlled by the Holy Spirit and the others are those that are controlled by sinful nature.
In this verse, Paul is trying to say that those who believe in Jesus, those who belong to God, those who have allowed the Holy Spirit to come and abide inside of them and their bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit. He says that these people are not controlled by sinful nature but are controlled by the Holy Spirit. So, the natural question that we have is that if we are controlled by the Holy Spirit and not by sinful nature then why do I still sin! It is because we choose to. It is not because we are controlled by our sinful nature but because we make choices. Before we got saved we were controlled by our sinful nature, we did not have the Holy Spirit within us, it was the flesh that was controlling everything, it was the flesh that determined what to do and what not to do. But once we accept Jesus in our hearts, once we have a revelation of who God is, once we have asked the Holy Spirit to come and live within us, after that it is not the sinful nature that controls you but it is the Holy Spirit that has the final say over your life. But we out of our will can constantly say no to the Spirit of God. Before being saved we did not have an option but to sin, but after salvation, we have a choice to listen and obey the voice of the Holy Spirit or say no to it.
Today, can I encourage you to look deep inside your body, soul and spirit and see who is in control. You, your soul, emotions, feelings are not the master but it is the Spirit of God living inside of you that is the master. He is the one you belong to, he is the one who gets to say when, what, where and why. If we will allow the Spirit of God to have complete dominion on the outside and the inside, our life will now begin to flourish. We will have the image, the likeness, the character, the integrity that Jesus had because it is the same Holy Spirit that was on Jesus when he was on the earth and it is the same Holy Spirit that is now desiring to control your life, desiring to lead you and drive you till you reach your destination. This is not something we achieve when we die, but this is a revelation that we live with and practice and enjoy on a daily basis if we allow the Holy Spirit to have access into every crevices and dark corner that we have in our life.
Your soul, your emotions and your feelings are not the master, but it is the Spirit of God living inside of you is the master of your life. Share on XLet us pray, Holy Spirit we acknowledge that you are the ruler, the controller, the in-charge, you are the One who is going to give instructions and we are the ones who are going to listen and obey because the word says that we are not controlled by our sinful nature anymore but we are controlled by you Holy Spirit. So we give you the access that you totally deserve. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
