Grateful Givers
Listen
Welcome to this beautiful day! The Lord is gracious, merciful to us and the more we yield ourselves to Him, the more we have to overflow in worship and thanksgiving to Him. It is not possible to encounter God and walk away without a heart of worship and gratitude.
In the Bible, David and Solomon and prepared for the building of the temple and called all the leaders. In view of the entire nation, David appointed Solomon as King and then he poured his heart to all of them of how he wanted to build this temple for the Lord. And then, David explains how God stopped him to build the temple and had ordained his son Solomon to build a temple for the Lord. Later, David brings all the accumulated wealth of fighting battles and victories and he brings it for the building of the temple of the Lord. He encouraged the leaders of Israel to do bring in as well. As said in the Bible, the leaders brought in free will thanksgiving offering to the temple of God. When David saw this he rejoices and began to praise and worship and he says in 1 Chronicles:29:14, “But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!”
The heart of David declares the things that the Lord has done for them and not what they have achieved. When we give our offerings we look at it as something that we have achieved. While David gave the offering, He acknowledged that God had done this in their lives.
What is our attitude to giving, worship and thanksgiving? Don’t we come into His presence of the Lord and boast about our giving towards Him, our worship towards Him. And David says, that whatever gives to God is an overflow of what God has done in their lives. God filled first. We can never take credit for bringing into the temple of God.
We have taken credit for long for the purity that the Holy Spirit has brought into us. We have taken credit for a long time for the offerings and tithes we bring into the church.
The beauty of walking with God is that the desire to do His will comes from the Holy Spirit as He fills us with inner strength. We need to acknowledge who deserves all the credit.
A sign of a grateful person is that he will bring back what God has given him to build the kingdom of God. Share on XWe are so blessed to have the privilege to give to Him.
