Punish the Godly
Listen
In this season, if we are going to be diligent in walking with God and putting to practice every instruction we are receiving, we will grow constantly till we reach the stature of Jesus Christ. Every passing day, the enemy has to see the reflection of Jesus on our lives and be scared because of who we represent.
The above verse is almost a judgement that is passed. Certain things are not right or commendable and this is one of those things. The writer says it is not a blessing to punish the godly.
How do we define ‘godly people’? The Biblical definition of godliness is anybody who has put their faith in Christ, to make them godly.
Anybody who hasn’t put their faith in their own righteousness or abilities, but has put their faith in Christ is called a godly person*.
When we look at people who have put their faith in Christ and we constantly criticize them, that is a bad thing to do.
When we talk ill about a person, that is harming the reputation of that person in the Spirit realm. Share on XSometimes, without our knowledge, we may end up punishing people without knowing their level of dependence on God and godliness, but today, the Lord is warning us to stop doing that.
It’s all relative sometimes, that when we see people who are doing things that we specifically don’t like, we automatically decide to categorize them as bad people or ungodly people. But we need to ask God, what He sees in that person, what concerns God’s heart for that person and if God sees that person as godly and just, we must let God be the judge there.
May we work on our relationships from higher dimensions and look at things from God’s viewpoint. May the Holy Spirit change and renew our perspectives on the way Jesus responded to His relationships.
