Surrendered His Glory
Listen
Good morning my dear friends! I hope that the Lord is continuing to work in each and every area of your life; the Lord is continuing to speak to you; the Lord is continuing to uplift your relationship, uplift your resources, uplift your lifestyle every single day. We are supposed to go from glory to greater glory, from strength to even better, even greater strength every passing day. Today, the Lord is giving you fresh manna, fresh wisdom so that you can grow one step closer to his plans and purposes in your life.
Let us turn to the book of Psalms chapter 78 and verse 61. The Psalmist is talking about God in the history of the nation of Israel. In this scripture, the Psalmist is acknowledging that God allowed his presence to be given into the hands of his enemy. The Lord surrendered his glory to someone else. He allowed the Ark of his might to be captured; He surrendered his glory into enemy hands
There are several times when we ask the question to God “why did you allow this to happen to me” When we read this Psalm, we see how God divinely allowed seasons of separation, seasons of disciplining, seasons of intense judgment upon the nation of Israel so that they will learn the value of devotion, the value of worship, the value of total commitment to God. When we look at it from an earthly or a human perspective, we only see the loss that we had to incur – the loss of time, money, relationships, all the blessings that we were counting on.
The Bible says that he allowed the Ark of his might, the Ark where his presence dwelt in the camp of Israel, the arc where his glory dwelt. God gave up his glory into the hands of the enemy. When we think about what God had to undergo, the defilement and dishonour that he had to undergo, then the losses that we experience don’t seem that big enough. It is necessary my dear friends that especially in times of intense struggle or battles that we stop focusing on what we have lost and we fix our eyes on the cross to see what Jesus lost so I can reach here. It could be his relationship with the father, it could be in his relationship with his earthly disciples, it could be in his physical struggle, the emotional struggle, the mental struggle that he went through.
Even today, the Bible says in Hebrews chapter 6 that when we turn away from him and we make choices or decisions or when we do things that are dishonourable to Jesus we are submitting Jesus back to the cross and we are subjecting him to a public disgrace.
For is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened – those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come – and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.
Now, think about why would we even complain that God allowed certain situations, that God allowed certain people to hurt us or certain institutions to fight us or certain diseases into our family, why would we even point our fingers back at God and ask him questions when we are equally responsible to bringing dishonour to the name and the presence and the glory of God. The bible says that he allowed the Ark of his might to be captured. How can his might be captured, how can somebody enforce power over the might of God?
Surrendered His Glory Share on X The Bible says because of the disobedience and rebellion of God’s people God allowed the Ark of his might to be captured. In fact, the next line says that He surrendered his glory, He surrendered His shekinah, He surrendered His manifest presence into the hands of the enemy. This morning, my prayer and desire is that nothing that I do, say, behave with, or do with my life will ever bring dishonour or defamation to the presence and the glory and the image of God here on the earth. Rather than pointing my fingers back at God and saying “why did you allow this in my life” I would point the fingers at myself and ask myself “what am I doing with my life that is allowing disrepute for the Lord in the world.”
