Good morning and greeting in Jesus precious name, welcome. The Lord wants to do a new thing in our lives this week, the Lord wants to release a fresh wave of his presence, a fresh breath from his heartbeat into your life, your family, into your workplace, into your commitment to ministry towards people, in every area of your life, the Lord wants to do something new.
Like we have been learning, whenever the Lord wants to do something new, he will first undo what has been done to you in your past because that one thing that remains in your heart can actually become a stumbling block, it could be like a small blockage in a pipeline that can stop the flow of God’s presence, a voice in your life.
Joshua 5:9 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” So that place has been called Gilgal to this day.
Many of the Israelites that came from Egypt were not circumcised, so God told Joshua it is time for them to be circumcised, set apart and identify themselves as my people, Joshua made sure that the entire camp of Israel who was at the right age was circumcised.
The Bible says, God brought them into the place of abundance, and God said this that, YOU ARE NOW A NEW PERSON. Today every shame of your slavery in Egypt has been rolled away and that is why that place was called Gilgal because that place means to roll away.
These guys have come out of Egypt and yet there was this repeated tendencies to behave and respond as they will naturally respond like they were in Egypt, there was a little bit o Egypt in them all through the 40 years of their wilderness experience. And that is why God has to wait till each person in Egypt in the coming of Israel except Joshua and Caleb will die and pass on before God will bring them into the promised land.
So God waited and finally when the camp of Israel was a fresh new generation, he said it was time for them to all be circumcised, then God said, today because you have reached this place where you have made a covenant, you have disconnected from the old past sinful stubborn generation and now you are a new people group, now let us make a convenient after the convenient was made, God said “Today, I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.
Many times, the reason we behave a particular way is not that we want to intentionally live in a life of sin or disobedience or disbelief, it is because there are still scars from Egypt that are still there in your mind, conversations, a reminder that will keep telling you that once upon a time, you were a slave. All of these pointers and markers that keep reminding you of your history or past, that reminder or marker can constantly add shame to you and without your knowledge, you may end up behaving in a reactionary measure that will look like you are still a slave in Egypt.
So this morning, the Lord has been working in your heart, mind, spirit to make sure all the old habits and way of thinking, everything gets reformed and renewed, now the Lord is making a covenant with some of you and He is giving some of you a promise, new word, new voice, in this new season, the Lord is freshly releasing his heartbeat into your life, if you are going to be attentive to, some of you are going to hear the voice of God in your life, hear what He is speaking to you, about you and your future, the Lord is making a new covenant with some of us and has a result of that, there is this shame of this slavery in Egypt which has been rolled away today.
God rolls away all our shame from the past. Share on XThe Lord is not talking about what he will do 1 year from now, Today, the Lord says I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt, whatever is your Egypt, write it down and intentionally confess this, the shame of this particular incidence in my life, the shame of this relationship, this particular thing that I did, it has been rolled away from my life, I am no longer a slave and I’m no longer in shame of my past, that cannot dictate my attitude or behaviours, responses anymore because now, I am about to inherit the promise land, the land that is flowing in Milk and Honey. So enjoy the rest that the Lord is leading you to, but make sure to confess that declare today that the Lord has chosen to release Gilgal over your life (means to roll away) and you are now free from the slavery and from the shame of that slavery, so enjoy the day of freedom, enjoy the week ahead full freedom and full throttle in your spirit moving forward in your relationship with God. Thank you for tuning in today, have a blessed and beautiful day ahead!
