Instead You Dance

But instead, you dance and play; you slaughter cattle and kill sheep. You feast on meat and drink wine. You say, “Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!” – Isaiah 22:13

Good morning and greetings in Jesus name. Welcome to this beautiful new day! Welcome to this beautiful new opportunity! Welcome to intimate knowledge and understanding of the heart of God. It is necessary that every believer, every child of God, every person who claims to be part of the church, who claims to be the bride of Christ, understand what God is feeling, what God is desiring; that we will keep our hearts in sync with the heart of God. The more that our hearts are in sync with the heart of God, the more our actions also need to be in sync with the heart of God.

In the Old Testament, in the book of Isaiah, we see this declaration of judgement and punishment that has been made over the people. It says that this is a time of catastrophe in the land, this is a time where the leaders are running away. The soldiers offer no resistance. There is absolutely nothing that is protecting God’s people. In a time like that, the nation is called to weep.

At that time the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, called you to weep and mourn. He told you to shave your heads in sorrow for your sins and to wear clothes of burlap to show your remorse. – Isaiah 22:12

This is what God did. He said, “You are not ready for the judgement that is coming your way, so you need to repent, you need to have sorrow for your sins, you need to have sadness for the wickedness in your land.” Church, do we look at the world around us, do we look at the pain and the suffering and the challenges, the problems and the sin that is the reason why all of this is happening and then we just go on with our life or do we look at the world around us that causes us to weep or to mourn or to cry or to be in pain for the world around us? The Lord called his people to weep and to mourn. Why? Because of the sin of the land, because of the sins of the nation.

Isaiah, for example, would pray and say “God, fill me with tears so I can weep, I can cry, I can mourn.” He is telling the people around him “don’t comfort me, don’t cause my tears to dry up. No, I want to cry for the nation, I want to weep for the people who are lost in their sins.” Today, in a time like this when the nations of the world are in great turmoil, I am not saying that God is not moving, I am not saying that there is no revival or there are no victories or breakthroughs or blessing happening anywhere. I am just saying that there is not much pain around the world.” This is the time when we should be praying like never before. This is the time we should be crying like never before. This is the time when we should be seeking the heart and the mind of God like never before. But what are we doing?

Isaiah 22: 13 says But instead, you dance and play; you slaughter cattle and kill sheep. You feast on meat and drink wine. You say, “Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

This is the state of the church. We are looking at a world around us that is suffering, struggling, going through all these painful situations and we are thinking we have got nothing to do with this. This is not my problem; this is something that someone else has to take care of. The government is the answer or the medical doctors are the answer or the ones who are ruling the economy of our nation, they have the answer to all of this. I will just party, I will just enjoy my own life. I will only look at my own affairs because tomorrow everybody is going to die and there is no meaning to life.

The more that our hearts are in sync with the heart of God, the more our actions also need to be in sync with the heart of God. Share on X

Sometimes, the sad thing is even though we don’t believe all these things, we act as we believe in them. Our actions, our attitudes, our prayers, our passion in pursuing God, our passion in pursuing souls, our passion in pursuing revival in our cities and nations, it seems like we don’t care as to what is happening in the world around us. God is looking at a nation, at a city, a people group and he says “I hoped for repentance, I hoped for some weeping, I hoped for some mourning, I hoped for some remorse.” You and I, we have to weep on behalf of a nation that can’t see God. Jesus did that on the cross. He looked at a people group that could not see the love of God and he said “Father, forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.” “Father, forgive them because they don’t have a revelation.” He wept, he cried. His heart was overcome with emotions towards the people that were ignorant and lost.

Is it true that we look at the world around us and we only have negative, condemning and judgemental words about them? Do we really have tears, do we really have sadness and sorrow in our hearts? Are we moved to pray just like Isaiah was moved to pray? Are we challenged to pray like Isaiah would be challenged to go after God? This morning, rather than feasting all the time, there is a time to dance, there is a time to party, there is a time to rejoice. As a church, our success will be in how sensitive we are to the heart and mind of God. When he allows us to rejoice, we rejoice and when he allows us to weep or to mourn or to intercede and break our hearts for the nation, we do that. We cannot be insensitive to the heart of God. The more we are sensitive to his heart, the more we have to represent his heart through our actions and through our lifestyles. I hope this word blessed you!
