Seventy Times Seven
Listen
Transcript:
So often, the one thing that limits us or stops us from growing to the fullness of what God has planned for us is not the fact that we have sin in us or we have weaknesses and earthly limitations.
Many at times, the one thing that limits us is something we can easily let go; It is things like lack of faith or lack of forgiveness.
As Jesus spoke saying it is the words that we speak that goes a long way in condemning or equipping us and just as He taught His disciples, He would constantly teach the importance of forgiving people and letting go off the mistakes and trespasses of people against us.
As in todays scripture, Jesus said not seven times but seventy times, this was a pointer to the question asked to Jesus by one of His disciples who was trying to be legalistic. In this manner, they further wanted to know whether seven times is enough but Jesus put it across to them that it was never about the number of times that one would forgive.
When we continue to make it a practice of forgiving people, along the line it will be that forgiveness will go down from our heads and down to the heart. Now, it will come to a point where it is Jesus that will be forgiving the offender through us.
Sometimes it may be hard to let go but will we continue to make that decision to forgive? If we keep count hoping that by the four hundred and ninetieth time we can take a revenge then that will not happen because if the forgiveness is genuine then that becomes a part and parcel of our life’s character. Instead, let us aim to be forgivers and hope and desire that lack of forgiveness will never be the reason for our lack of breakthrough, growth, anointing, increase and moving forward.
Praying that the lack of forgiveness will never be the reason why we miss the favor of God in our lives.
